Hey I’m Sheryl. I first got involved in the trek project through my auntie Dawn [a Regional Manager with Who Cares? Scotland, also going on the trek] who roped me into helping out at some of her fund raisers – race night, Schiehallion climb and bag packing. I came on board for the trek late on so only had about five weeks to prepare but I jumped at the opportunity to do something so worthwhile and rewarding. It really is a once in a lifetime experience. I feel sorry for Bussy [another adult supporter] because he had to drop out due to injury but I’m so grateful I got his place!

I’m really looking forward to trekking on the challenge but just hope I’ve done enough in the short time to get fit. But I have had the opportunity to take part in some of the organised activities such as climbing Schiehallion and the weekend at Wiston Lodge.  Also I’ve done some climbs in my free time - Merrick and Benyellary – and I’m doing as much walking and training as possible. So raring to go now. I can’t believe it’s only nine days!!!

I’ve been busy organising fund raising events before I go. Last Sunday we had a sponsored walk from Prestwick to Troon and back (10 miles), with a great turn-out. I have already got half-way to my target so I’m well chuffed. Thanks to all for their support.

Sheryl has organised a quiz night at 8.30 pm on Saturday 24th October at the Toll Bar, 10 Littlemill Road, Drongan, Ayrshire, KA6 7BP. Supporters welcome.

Well done with your fundraising efforts sheryl youve really worked hard (although your mum thinks that she should be noted as one of the main sponsors given the amount of money and in kind help that shes contributed to both of us). I look forward to our ‘journey’ (auntie) Dawn
