Celebration cake
The trekkers have arrived safely at the final camp beside the Marsayandi river. The day took us through dense jungle, where the forest floor was covered in sweet chestnuts – the food of bears. No bears were seen, apart from those in our team!
The steep descent into the valley took us through terraced fields and provided spectacular views of the river.
Our last meal in camp ended with the presentation of a large iced chocolate cake to mark the terrific achievements of the young people and their supporters.
We have been amazed at the skills of our cooks who have made superb meals throughout the trek. Pizza for 50 at 3,200m? No problem! Many thanks to head chef, Pemba Sange (also known as Radio Nepal) and his team.
Quote of the day came from Niall Grattan:
If I lost any more weight I’d be posted missing.
Tomorrow the trek ends with a three hour walk out along the riverside to meet the buses.
Look out for tomorrow’s post from Pokhara which will include individual messages.

All sounding very wonderful – No bears, you must be mistaken as you have one in your group Mountain Bear Murphy (AKA Brian). Looking forward to posts from Pokahara.

Fantastic job all of you – really looking forward to hearing everything. Pity about the weather for the optional extra bit but gaining an unexpected 2 hours sleep is also quite nice!

Thanks Sheena and Stuart. I brought you some tea to remind you of Nepal. I think I might have to go back to go to Everest Base Camp!
